Panzano
Panzano Castle was builded between the XI and the XII century by the Firidolfi, a very important family in the Florence Republic. The reason was to build a fortress next to the romanic church of San Leolino and near the Senae Republic. During the years of war against the ghibellini neighbours, Panzano is always one of the most strong castles of the Lega della Val di Greve and an invincible fortress of the Florence Republic.
The castle has been attacked many times, from the Senae armies and his allieds from Naples and Aragon, but never surrended.
After the end of the senae Republic in 1555 the role of Panzano in the war is not more important, so the village begins to improve his agricoltural aspects like the wine and the oil that all the world knows.
